Energy and Public Utilities
Energy Assistance Program (SB 265): Stops fund sweeps and doubles fees on utility bills for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) energy assistance program (48 cents to 96 cents per month). States that the program cannot reject families based on immigration status.
Telemarketer Spoofing Ban (SB 2225): Bans spoofing (falsifying the caller ID information on purpose) by telemarketers in Illinois.
Regional Water Commission (SB 2368): Creates a new Regional Water Commission Division of the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that municipalities may enter into joint efforts to acquire, develop and operate a joint water supply, joint water works or both through intergovernmental cooperation.
Pembroke Township Program (SB 2393): Creates new pilot program for the distribution of grants for the construction of new natural gas pipelines and infrastructure in Pembroke Township in Kankakee County.
